Absolute Boundless Abandon; Week 5 Day 5

Coffee Talk: for Friday, July 4, 2014
Today’s Focus is: God's Protection of Those Whom He has Redeemed
Carefully prepared just for you by your friend, Ramona Davis

Dear Heavenly Father, We come before You praising You. We rejoice in Your amazing love! Thank You LORD for Your protection over us! Thanks You for Your grace! In Jesus’ Name we pray, Amen.

Daily Bread:

"I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me."

John 17:23

Main Course:

Have you ever taken the face of a child into your cupped hands, brought them close to yours and whispered from the depth of your heart, “I love you”?

He holds your face in His Hands and whispers from the depth of His heart, “I love you”. Do you hear Him?

In The Road to Daybreak, Henri Nouwen wrote,

“Without a deep-rooted sense of belonging, all of life can easily become cold, distant and painfully repetitive. This deeper connection is the connection with the One whose name is Love, leading to a new discovery that we are born out of love and are always called back to that love. It ultimately leads to prayer and a new experience of being held within the hand of a loving God.”

Do you really want to know the depth, height, width, and length of His love for you?

Begin by praying, asking Him to use this time to begin/continue an exciting, life-long journey of knowing and receiving His fierce love for you.

Read Isaiah 43:1-7

God promises to care for and protect those whom He has redeemed. When we pass through seasons of doubt and confusion, when our world is turned upside down, when all our dreams come crashing to the ground, we must experience the words of this passage, internalizing them deep in our heart and soul.

Read this verse from the beautiful prayer of Jesus in John 17:23 the night before He was crucified for you and for me.

How does this verse describe how much God loves you?

Meditate on these verses and list in your journal, anything that has you chained and bound, keeping you from receiving His deep love for you. Receive, in the original Greek language means “to take hold of, to accept and be amazed”.

Perhaps you aren’t “chained and bound” but if we are all honest, something threatens to hold us captive almost everyday. (Lust for the things of this world, jealousy, complacency, pride, etc.) We can only take these things to Jesus asking Him to forgive and show us how to avoid each one. Being mindful of how the devil tries to trap us is half the battle.

1 Peter 5:8 & 9 tell us to cast all our cares on God for He cares for us. He also warns us to be self-disciplined and alert because the devil walks around like a roaring lion seeking those who he can devour. The devil is both cunning and cruel. He attacks when least expected and desires to destroy.

God’s love is boundless for those of us in Christ Jesus! Do not resist the LORD resist the devil and he must flee!

Your Turn:

Ask God to give you discernment and wisdom to recognize the devil’s traps.

Ask Him to cover you with His grace and mercy to free you to experience His deep, passionate love for you.

Journal your prayer.

Closing Prayer:

Dear Father God, Thank You for Your mercy and grace! Thank You for Your passionate love displayed in Jesus. Thank You for Your loving relationship moment by moment each day as we share our lives with You. How blessed we are. In Jesus’ Name we pray, Amen.
