A Storm of Thoughts

My husband brought home something that reminded him of me. He walked in, handed me a piece of paper and said, "This is you!"

It was a quote by Mark Twain that was on the bottom of an email he had received at work. It read:

"Life does not consist mainly - or even largely - of facts and happenings. It consists mainly of the storm of thoughts that is forever blowing through one's head." -- Mark Twain

Wow! He knows me so well! It is true, as many of you know, my plate is full. My sweet neighbor tells me to be careful how much I add to the plate.

However, I believe God wired me that way. We watched a clip on TV that night about people who work on an assembly line who are required to produce their piece of the puzzle every 88 seconds. That blew my mind! I cannot imagine focusing 8 hours a day on that one thing. God wired them differently, thank goodness!

I once thought there was something terribly wrong with me. I wondered why I couldn't cram this square peg into a round hole! But this quote from Twain describes me perfectly! So does God's Word!

1 Corinthians 12:4-6 “There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men.”

My sister once quipped at me during a visit, "Will you PLEASE just sit down and relax!" That does not come easy for me because of the 'storm of thoughts ever blowing through my head.'

So God, in his infinite wisdom surrounds me with people who see the world through different eyes, with different gifts and different kinds of service. Together, we ROCK!

Alone, I might be a tornado, but with my diverse family and friends, my storm of thoughts become a gentle breeze refreshing the world around us.

This is what I most like and appreciate about my church family. They are my friends.  There are some people I'm closer to than others, but between them and my awesome pastor and his wife, I have never felt more welcome.  I am a " newbie " christian.  Their patience and understanding has been phenomenal.  Everybody is there for me for questions or prayer.   I will never forget their kindness and help when I needed it.  Thank you Lord.  In jesus name amen.  There is a place for eveyone, you just have to look and pray.
