One A Month

She asked for it!

I was talking with my friend one day about business. She said, "Well, I've been averaging about one sale a month in real estate." After figuring this out she prayed telling God that sales were not as good as they needed. It was then that God reminded her heart that earlier in the year she had asked Him to give her at least one sale a month.

God did.

Isn't it funny the way we see such a small God when we pray? What is our deal? For some crazy reason we don't want to 'bother' Him with our requests. We must picture Him as the pastor who gets stopped by every member of the congregation on their way out.

You know what I'm talking about. One will say, "Remember me this week, I'm going in for gall bladder surgery." Another will say, "Don't forget to call me about that dinner!" Then he hears from the twelve year old giggling girl who is tugging on his shirt, "Hey pastor, can you pray for my braces?"

His head has to be swirling as he leaves the sanctuary. You, of course, saw the commotion and decided to keep your hurt to yourself. After all, the man looked overwhelmed; the last thing he needed was to hear from you! Right?

Unfortunately we look at God the same way at times. We think, He doesn't need to hear this from me! He already knows I'm struggling so why should I remind Him that I'm here again, asking. I'm sure there is someone who has a REAL problem they need help with. I can figure this one out on my own.

Reality check. He is GOD! We are NOT! Let's see… in a few short days He placed the stars in the heavens, the waters on the earth and created every single living thing! I think He can handle your stuff. Not only CAN He, He is waiting for you to get to the end of yourself! Only then can He come to your aid.

As long as we try to be the providential fixer, we short-circuit His plan. He patiently waits on us to get over it and get down on our knees.

When is the last time you have been down on your knees? He is waiting.

Just for fun, I punched my name into Google to see what I could find.  So glad that God aimed me at Encouragement Café.  I've loved every one that I've read and will definitely be back for more.

Thanks for all the uplifting posts, Luann.  I sometimes feel that way, that God has bigger problems to solve than my own little woes.  I'm like that with people, too.  I feel like my problems are miniscule compared to others.  Thank you for the reminder that God is bigger than my problems!

God Bless.

Thanks so much Luann! You have once again been used greatly by God to speak into my life. Thank you for being so faithful to remind us all just how big God is—and how much He loves each of His children. May He continue to bless you in this ministry.
