Self-Reliance Let Me Down

The longer I live, the more I realize my desperate need for an Almighty God. Several years ago, my need was evident and my God was EXTREME. The first Encouragement EXTREME Event was birthed in my mind in 2009. I wanted to call women out of a place of complacency and into an ABSOLUTE BOUNDLESS adventure from being totally ABANDONED to God.

What I've discovered along the way?

It's God who is EXTREME, not us.

We show up. We walk in baby steps of obedience. We do the next thing. He puts the instruments in place. He fine tunes the chords. He steps onto center stage and music bursts forth.

My mouth gapes like a codfish as I watch Him bind and weave His scarlet thread into every circumstance!

Self-reliance has let me down in my life. I've read many self-help books and followed most of their points.

There is always one major thing missing... the missing piece!

You know, that THING you never expected, the doctor's phone call, the sick child, the lost job, the wayward child, the dying parent, or the cheating husband... the one thing they didn't cover in the book.

They didn't tell you how to hold it together when your world starts falling apart. It's hard to pick yourself up and be self-reliant when the missing piece shows up and sits on your chest! How do you deal with that?

That 800 pound gorilla that just camped out on top of your life! You didn't see THAT coming! You weren't prepared for THAT!

Self-reliance let me down.

Stop trusting in mere humans, who have but a breath in their nostrils. Why hold them in esteem?  Isaiah 2:22 NIV

I need a Mighty God.

“Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the LORD, who has compassion on you.  Isaiah 54:10 NIV

I'm so glad that He is EXTREME with His love for us, aren't you?
