WEEK TWO: Transformation

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern wha tis the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Romans 12:2
Opening Thoughts:

Welcome back to week two ladies! I trust God met you in His Word and know there are more good things to come. We’ve spent much time looking at what it means to surrender and this week, we get to learn more about transformation, which simply means to change. Can you think of anything in you, you’d like to change? I don’t know about you, but more than one answer comes to my mind!

Let me ask another question: Can you name something God has changed in you? Thankfully, more than one answer comes to mind once again! God is a powerful God and friend, He is at work in you and in me. When we live out what is learned about surrender, He will transform. He uses His living and active Word to change us from the inside out. You will get a glimpse of some of the work He’s done in my heart as you read this chapter and I pray you will share what He’s doing in yours in the comment section of this post.

As we begin, I want us all to remember transformation takes time! Sometimes we don’t understand the ways God works, but we must not forget He has a reason. Isaiah 55:8-9 says, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

Ladies, God is writing our story and He is in control of our journey, our job is to seek Him, trust and obey Him. As He draws us close, speaks through His Word and gives us direction, our minds will be renewed and our lives transformed. He’s done this in my life and He will do it in yours!

Closing Questions:

Let's start simple:

  • Where are you from and what brought youto this study?
  • Do you remember catching a caterpillar, watching it make a cocoon and then releasing it as a butterfly? What did you enjoy about this process?

Going a bit deeper:

  • What is the difference between conformation and transformation?
  • What can you take from Habakkuk’s story?

Share a bit about the transformational work God has done in your life.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I am grateful you never change. You are the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. At the same time I’m thankful that you have the power to change me. I ask you to draw me into your Word, use it to renew my mind and transform me from the inside out. Make me more like you. I also know change isn’t always easy or fun, so humble me so I’m willing to join you in the process Father. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.
