And, “I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.” 2 Corinthians 6:18 NIV

Have you ever been in a situation where you were asked to drive to a place you’ve never gone to before, with not one detail about where you are going? You know, when the plan just kind of spontaneously unfolds? There you are with no address, no directions, not a bit of information other than the promise of the one who says, “I know how to get there, just follow me!” You know you can’t program a promise into your GPS, or type it into your search bar. It just doesn’t work that way.

I don’t know about you, but the “Just FOLLOW ME” scenario raises all kinds of red flags. Can you almost see that nightmare emerging like a monster from your mind’s eye into your actual reality? What happens if we get separated somehow in traffic? What happens if I get caught at a red light, or cars cut me off? Just think of the possibilities. What happens if…? Can you just feel the tension rising at the very thought of it? Imagine hopping in the car and taking off on nothing but the promise. Can I trust they will be mindful of me, watching for me, waiting for me, absolutely attentive and responsible to ensure I am with them all the way?

I tell you, there are times when living the Christian life feels very much the same. You know, the times when God calls us out to “Just follow HIM!” Follow, when we have NO IDEA whatsoever where we are going, how to get there, how long it will take, and yet we are called to just “go.” There we are, totally dependent on needing to trust Him completely to get us “there.” Time after time we have no clue how to accomplish the things we sense we are being guided to pursue.

The difference, what’s that difference that makes ALL the difference with God as the Leader to follow? God is a GOOD, GOOD FATHER! He KNOWS! He knows where, how, and when to get there. God has been there before you and it is His good plan for you. God is a GOOD, GOOD FATHER who LOVES you and will never take His eye off of you. Keeping every promise He ever made, He will watch for you, He will wait for you. He will turn around and come back for you. He will clear the way for you. This is your Father spoken of in Matthew:

What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off? And if he finds it, truly I tell you, he is happier about that one sheep than about the ninety-nine that did not wander off. In the same way your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should perish. Matthew 18:12-14 NIV

Go ahead, program THAT promise deep inside of your heart and soul. Let it settle and secure you on this life journey. Exhale and proceed, knowing full well that you can follow Him in confidence every inch of the way. Please be reminded today, God desires to take us “there” because He has a plan for our lives. It is a journey that is defined by faith requiring us to follow Him.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11 NIV

Oh what a beautiful picture of your Father’s heart and your Father’s ways. He’s the ONE we can forever trust with not one shred of doubt, fear, or question in our hearts, minds, or souls. Believe Him. Trust Him. Follow Him. He will NEVER lose sight of you nor leave you. He sees you there. He meets you there. Follow Him so very closely. Keep pace as He leads. If we keep our sights locked on His every move, totally dependent on His guidance and direction, we will travel well with an amazing peace and unshakable certainty.

Oh the joy of knowing He is a GOOD GOOD FATHER! Just imagine the journey. Just imagine the results. Just imagine the bond. Just imagine and embrace the reality of the truth and the power of His love for you.

The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Deuteronomy 31:8 NIV
Dear Father God, You are such a GOOD GOOD Father to us and for us. We love You dearly. You have given us so much more than we can ever truly know or fully understand. We praise You and thank You for loving us so very much that You would send Your Son Jesus to make a way for us to come home to You. We love You, we praise You. We thank You now for who You are. We will follow You and sing of Your love forever and ever, In Jesus’ Most Precious Name we pray, amen, amen, and AMEN.
