Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 (NIV)
I know this may sound simplistic, but my mind often works slower than most. God has been revealing in vivid color how life is such an AMAZING JOURNEY. Just this week I've had the privilege of being surrounded by friends who are in different seasons along the path.
When I glance back over my life I could NEVER have drawn it out on a canvas. On my journey, I NEVER would have guessed who all I would meet, what choices I would make, the places I would live, or why God asks me to walk with Him.
My life often resembled a rushing, twisting current that made me feel tossed aside. Today, here I stand on a ridge, glancing at my past as a winding river. Painful bumps along the banks did not stop the movement, for it continues to flow.
As I hear children share their dreams, I see their journey.
As I listen to friends request prayer for sickness, I see their journey.
As I comfort those who suffer, I see their journey.
As I rejoice with coworkers over a job well done, I see their journey.
As I visit neighbors, I see their journey.
Every mile is a building block of character.
Isn't it sweet to know that God doesn’t waste a moment? Every experience was an essential piece for the construction of our lives.
Wherever you are on your journey, trust the One who knows the way.
Father, nothing surprises You. You know where we’ve been and where we are going. There is no place we can go that You are not there. You promised never to leave us or forsake us. Help us to believe that truth and know that regardless of the bumps along the journey, our eternal home is with You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
