Yes, my soul, find rest in God. My hope comes from Him. Psalm 62:5 NIV
Sometimes the path we find ourselves on isn’t one we would have chosen. Perhaps you even wonder how you got there. It could have been some bad life choices or circumstances beyond your control. Regardless, one thing is for sure … you are not there alone.
We were at a crossroads as a family. We had ended a chapter in one state and were starting a new one in another. There was a house that wouldn’t sell, because of a crashing economy and we still didn’t have steady jobs or income.
Everything felt dark. The list of why’s and what if’s were long. We were battle-scarred and weary.
Did God really see us? Would He provide? Did He see that our marriage was crumbling under the weight of our world? How could we lead our five children when we couldn’t seem to find a firm place to put our feet?
Maybe you’ve been there. Perhaps you’re there right now. You can’t see the glimmers of light breaking through the fog yet and you wonder if you can make it through another day. You’re scared and maybe even a little angry.
Let me tell you a little secret. God is bigger than your current circumstances. He hasn’t left you alone in this wilderness. He has a plan for your life and His plans are good.
Right now today, He has created a little spot on the path for you to rest. He knows every detail that troubles your heart at this very moment. He cares so deeply for you.
Things didn’t change overnight for us. The bills kept piling on deeper than our resources and our list of concerns was long. As the weeks turned into months we knew there was only one way through our wilderness.
Time passed and a new life began to spring forth along our path. Some days there was more laughter than tears. New memories were made as pages of the next chapter unfolded.
Where are you the journey today, dear one? Are you feeling beaten down and worn? Do you wonder if there could possibly be a new path being prepared for you? Is it hard for you to hear Him through the thunder and storms?
Quiet your heart and receive all that He has for you today. Let Him be your rest. One day you’ll look up and see past this current season.
Lord, You alone are my one true hope. Help me find my rest in You. Give me the courage to trust You when my life doesn’t make sense and my vision is clouded. Lead me along on the path You have prepared for me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen
