...though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the LORD upholds him with his hand. Psalm 37:24 NIV
Life can spiral out of control. I don’t know about you, but if you are anything like me you will find speed bumps, potholes, and roadblocks are pretty common on this highway called life. More times than I like to remember I’ve found myself rolling along smoothly with my plans and then BUMP! I get hit so hard. I feel like the air is being forced right out of me and fall flat on my face.
I know these obstacles are attacks from the enemy. I don’t enjoy the attacks while I’m in the pit of them. Who does? But when I’m in the pit is when I remember God’s promises. I hold on tightly to the promise that God is for me and not against me. What the enemy means to destroy me, God actually uses to make me stronger!
Jeremiah 29:11 says,
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
God allows for roadblocks to knock us down, and even break us down, until we become so broken that we feel like we are left with nothing. When we come to this place we learn to give up control of what we really never had control of in the first place.
When we submit our plans to our Maker, we realize that He doesn’t really need us, but He wants us to desperately rely on Him and trust Him with every area of our lives. He planned for us and knows us even better than we know ourselves.
Psalm 139:16 says,
all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.
How amazing is that? He has us in the palms of His hands. Next time you hit that big bump in life, remember, God is with you. He is for you. He has a great plan for you and this moment is a part of it. We may fall flat, but with Him we can rise again!
Psalm 44:26 says,
Rise up and help us; rescue us because of Your unfailing love.
Dear Lord, Help me to trust and rely fully on You. Your Word is the roadmap to my life. I don’t want to take a Sunday drive with it. I want it to be my GPS for whatever I do and wherever I go. In Jesus’ Precious Name I Pray, Amen
